426 Hemi Convertible!
Documented, Real Hemi Ragtop
With Excellent history!
Sorry. it's sold
This is the real deal! Very low production, very desirable B-body Hemi GTX Convertible.... It's in excellent condition from top to bottom. And Documented back to the original owner!
This car was once part of the Otis Chandler collection and is featured in the book American Musclecar. It was also on the front cover of the 1988 issue of Popular Hotrodding. It is one of the 36 U.S. ordered, 1968 Hemi GTX convertibles known to exist.
As you can see by the photos the car is in very nice condition. It is clean straight and solid top to bottom with a nice original unmolested body. We have photos prior to, and during the restoration. The fenders, doors, 1/4's, deck-lid, dutchman panel, hood, jambs and rockers are all in excellent condition. The complete undercarriage including the floors, trunk, frame rails torsion support, and trunk extensions are also in excellent condition.
The interior is in excellent condition, as is the the convertible top. The top is powered, and it goes up and down like new. It has the in dash Tachometer and the console automatic shift.
All Chrome and bright work throughout is in very good to excellent original condition.
The 426 Hemi engine and 727 H.D. automatic transmission run great and shift tight. The block is an original, unstamped, NOS replacement.
The car has it's original fender tag, and all body stamps match. The original owner had seen this ad in his hunt to locate the car and has been gracious enough to provide us with the original operation instructions and warrantee booklet complete with the original certi-card. He also has the original invoice , which he's still trying to locate. Travis was also kind enough to provide a wonderful historical account of the cars early history from the time he bought it new right up until he traded it in in 1976. We have also been contacted by the cars fourth owner Mark, who did most of the original restoration work. He has also been kind enough to provide us with all of the history from the era he owned it and also pictures of the car before and during restoration as well as a picture of the car on the cover of Popular Hotrodding... Thanks again guys !
This is a rare piece of Mopar history. Overall I'd rate the condition of this car as an easy 85-90 out of 100. As with any 30 year old classic that has been enjoyed, there may be a few minor flaws, nicks, scratches to be expected. This car can be added to any collection with pride as it shows excellent from top to bottom and has possibly the best history of any of the 1968 hemi GTX convertible out there!
